You might be overestimating how large your katamari actually is a lot of times, there is a puzzle element to the game where if you feel that there are too many things around you that you can’t pick up you should go back to previous areas for smaller items to get a little bigger so that you can get those larger ones. That being said, the game rewards practice and that is really what it takes to improve.Ī few tips I can give you: you have to sort of imagine you are rolling a ball around in front of you, that is what the controls are supposed to simulate. The bottom line is that you will not get the hang of this game right out of the box. You get way more accuracy in camera controls and steering.

I would suggest not using simple controls either as it isn’t so much easy mode as it is just putting what two sticks would do in one. And you have only played it for a few hours which isn’t enough time to get the hang of such unique controls. I don’t think you’re doing anything wrong, but you gotta understand that this game just simply does not control like anything you’ve ever played before for better or for worse. If i don't get the hang of it in a few days, I'll consider it not for me. I'm still not really having any luck with the coordination, but I will keep on practicing. I've switched back to the normal/tank mode controls. Between this and the bad camera angle, it's near impossible to do anything.ĭoes anyone have any tips on how I can improve my gameplay? Do I just suck at it?Įdit: thank you guys for taking the time to help me out. I'm also having trouble picking up many things even though they'll be a 1/3rd size of my ball and I'll go over them slow. It's quickly making this game a waste of money and while I want to like it, I'm having a hard time doing so. Katamari Damacy significant slowdown Computer Specs: AMD FX 8350 Eight Core Processor 4Ghz NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 8GB Ram Hello all, Ive just started playing Katamari Damcy for the first time after it was recommended by a friend. I also looked up several tips for simple control mode, but nothing seems to be working. I made sure the controller was working properly by playing both Minecraft and GTA 5 and it worked perfectly there. The right control stick does essentially nothing in simple control mode. I've checked the control scheme and did those inputs but they don't do anything. I can roll around better in simple controls, but there's no way to move the camera (jump to the other side of the ball) or speed up. Unable to get the hang of it, I decided to switch to simple controls. The controls just feel awful and unintuitive and borderline not obeying my input. I just bought Katamari Damacy Reroll (PS4) a few hours ago, and while I do find it cute.
